NEW DELHI: The railways has warned its workforce of consequences, including sacking and jail, if they choose to go on strike on July 11 along with central government employees. In a letter written on Friday to all zonal managers and subordinate organizations, the railway board has cited rules and regulations which can be enforced to stop the around 13 lakh workforce from going on strike.
Union leaders were also reportedly informed that only serving rail employees can lead workers. The unions' demands include raising the minimum pay for employees from the Rs 18,000 promised by the seventh pay commission to Rs 26,000.
